Copywork Books

Proverbs is known as the Book of Wisdom; a collection including fatherly advice to his son: the future king. A rich 12-volume resource to include for your younger students.

Each volume contains 25-30 copywork pages. Your choice of the 2 most popular fonts.

The consistent practice of copywork is a natural, gentle, and effective method of teaching penmanship, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary. However, it goes beyond the mechanics of writing and also develops many character traits such as diligence, attention, observation, and excellence. These good habits overflow into composition of writing and speaking. It also gleans the arts of reading and listening, which are vital to the English language, and introduces an appreciation for well written literature. This sets a foundation for the future love of reading, culture and all that the world of books offers.

Using copywork in this way is a standalone staple method of teaching language arts for young children. This series of Manuscript Copywork from The Book of Proverbs has been designed for children between the ages of 5 – 8 and can generally be copied in a 10 minute time frame, 3 – 4 days per week. It focuses on quality over quantity, and aims for beautiful work with special attention to capitalization and punctuation. It is better for your child to write a small amount to the best of their ability rather than a full page completed hastily. In this way, you build your child’s confidence and encourage progress without unnecessary pressure. Each week you will see increases in ability, but much more, in an attitude of pleasure. Using the King James Version provides rich vocabulary in the Canadian spelling.
